New Koralias in Stock

The new Koralia models are now available.

What’s new?

Although the pumps are very similar, the changes are important. The new pump uses a new rotor made of anisotropic ferrite (a magnet with a preferred direction of orientation) that provides improved performance, low power consumption and less vibration. In the new koralia, the starting of the pump is smoother, so Hydor could eliminate the hydrofoils allowing a gain of about 10% in flow performance versus the old model.

Updated details

The pump uses an updated shaft in stainless steel AISI 316 instead of bushings. The shaft material has been extensively tested for long life without experiencing any wear and or corrosion (especially in salty environments). The propellor encounters less resistance in the new Koralia model. The water passes through the pump much more easiliy providing enhanced performance.

A ring for more robust hydrodynamics has been added to the front grille. The new grille is 100% compatible with the previous version. Even the grille of the upper chamber was reinforced to withstand the stresses over the years due to the use of timed controls.

In case of use without a timer

It’s possible to remove the thin drain cover of the rotor segments and this will enhance the water flow by 15%.

Improved performance

The new Koralia pumps provide  super performance: only 5w for 5600 litres per hour.

With the new koralia in the aquarium you can circulate 3200, 4400 0r 5600 litres of smooth and powerful flow.

The wide flow outlet and characteristics produced by the pumps are those which have made Hydor Koralia the leader on the world market in the segment of wave pumps/

Even maintenance is easier now as the pump is made in only 3 pieces.

Product Feature: Red Sea Reef Care Program: Part 1 Reef Foundation

The complete Reef Care Program is the product of years of research into the physiological demands of a reef aquarium’s SPS, LPS and Soft Corals. The program is divided into 4 distinct, but complementary, sub-programs according to biological process.

Reef Foundation Program

This program provides you with biologically balanced levels of foundation elements (Calcium, Carbonates and Magnesium), and ensures optimal water conditions for a sustainable, vibrant coral reef.

A successful coral reef aquarium depends on how well you maintain the water parameters which are the key to a stable coral environment. All of the elements found in natural seawater play a role in providing optimal water parameters, but some are more significant than others. These elements, the foundation of the reef environment, include the three major elements: Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg) and Carbonates (CO3). All three have a major effect on water chemistry (pH stability, Alkalinity, ionic strength) and on many of the coral’s biological processes (skeleton formation, ions exchange, photosynthesis).
The foundation elements complement each other in the formation of coral skeleton. If not balanced correctly one of the elements will quickly limit healthy coral growth.

Reef Foundation – Supplements

Reef Foundation A: Contains Calcium, Strontium, and Barium according to the ratios found in coral skeleton. Concentration: 1ml will raise the Ca level of 100 liters (25 gal) by 2ppm

Reef Foundation B (Alk): A complex of carbonate and other buffers present in seawater that maintain proper alkalinity and pH. Concentration: 1ml will raise the alkalinity of 100 liters (25gal) by 0.036 meq/l (1dKH)

Reef Foundation C (Mg): A blend of Magnesium salts. Concentration: 1ml will raise the Mg level of 100 liters (25gal) by 1ppm.

Reef Foundation A, B & C are available as liquid supplements in 500ml bottles and include a measuring cup for easy dosing.

1kg powder supplements are available for larger aquariums.

Reef Foundation ABC+: Contains Calcium, Strontium, Barium, Bicarbonates, Magnesium, Potassium, Boron, Iodine, and Bromine formulated according to the exact ratio found in the coral skeleton. This unique powder supplement simplifies the daily dosing of more than just the foundation elements, and is recommended for aquariums of up to about 300 liters / 75gallons.

Reef Foundation Test Kits

These kits include individual test kits and the Reef Foundation Pro kit, which combines the 3 individual tests in one convenient kit. All of the foundation kits include analytical grade glass vials and an easy-to-use, high precision Titrator

All products are available from Southwestmarines.
